About
The Raleigh Safety & Community Club Community Center is a thriving nexus of activities that support programs and activities developed by and for community residents in Southeast Raleigh.
History
The Safety Club is a historic community center that was founded by the Raleigh Safety and Raleigh Community Clubs in the mid-50's to create a focal point for social, philanthropic and cultural activities in the African American Community serving Wake County and many adjoining counties.

Programs
Youth/Adolescent Services: Joni Craven-Jeffries, Youth Services Coordinator: 919-256-4255
- After School Program ("Kid's Cafe"): Tutoring, computer lab access, a hot meal, performing arts program, and mentoring. Monday-Friday; 3pm - 6pm. First day to the last day of Wake County schools. Children ages 5 - 17.
- Summer Day Camp: Activities, field trips, sports. June - August, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Children ages 5 - 17.
- Academic Steps to Success: Academic booster program that focuses on math, reading, and writing.
- Just for Girls: Enrichment program for girls ages 5 - 12.
- Boys to Men: Enrichment program for boys ages 5 - 12.
Senior Services: Jerry Murdaugh, Senior Teenagers Advisor, 919-256-4256
- Senior Teenagers: Weekly activities for community residents ages 55 and over. Crafts, games, field trips, and fellowship.
Community Resources & Outreach
- Locates resources for clients & community residents over the age of 18; organizes monthly community luncheons and activities that reach out to the community.
Economic Literacy
- VITA Program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance): Trained volunteers prepare and file federal and state tax forms for free. January - April 15. This service is available now! See the flyer for more details.
Job Readiness/Workforce Development Program: Anita Abrams, Workforce Development Coordinator: 919-256-4260
- W.E.A.C.T. Program: Provides training for underemployed or unemployed adults 18 or older. This curriculum is designed to prepare candidates for interviewing and entering the workforce and guides participants to develop and enhance career tools such as resumes, cover letters, and thank you letter.
